Who runs this site
ebonyinnovates.com is run by EBONY INNOVATES (DBA), a sole proprietorship in Houston, Texas. When this page says we or us, that is who it means.
What we collect when you write to us
Most of this site is read only. The main thing you can send us is a booking or partnership inquiry through the contact form. When you send one, we collect your name, your email address, your phone number if you include it, your organization if you include one, and what you wrote. That inquiry also creates a record in our customer system, Zoho, so your message does not get lost and the right person answers it.
What we collect when you buy something here
Some pages on this site sell programs and study packs. When you check out, we collect your name, your email address, and what you ordered. Your payment is handled by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe and stays with Stripe. It never touches our servers and we never see it, hold it, or store it. Where a program is invoiced instead of sold by checkout, we collect the billing details your organization gives us so the invoice can be paid.
What we collect when you look around
Like most websites, this one uses cookies. A cookie is a small file a site leaves in your browser so the site can remember things and count visits. [DEFAULT: The site uses basic visit counting tools. No advertising trackers from social media companies are placed on purpose.] You can turn cookies off in your browser settings and the site will still work.
The email list
Our email list lives on Substack. If you subscribe there, Substack holds your email address and we use it to send the writing and the news you signed up for. Sending a booking inquiry does not put you on the list. Subscribing is its own choice, and every list email carries an unsubscribe link.
What we use your information for
We use what we collect to answer inquiries, plan and deliver speaking and consulting work, take and fulfill orders, and understand which pages people read so we can make them better. That is the whole list.
What we never do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to marketers. An organization that books a talk does not receive the names of other organizations that asked.
Who else touches your information
Stripe handles payments when you buy. Zoho holds inquiry records and sends booking desk mail. Substack holds the email list for people who subscribe. [DEFAULT: These companies are allowed to use what they receive only to do the job they were handed.] If the law ever requires us to share information, we will share only what the law requires.
How long we keep it
[DEFAULT: Inquiry records are kept for three years so repeat conversations have their history. Order and invoice records are kept for seven years because tax and business records require it.]
Your choices
